Using word games, story telling and
creative exercises, the Community
Focus creative writing group produce
poems and short stories both
independently and collectively.

Students can draw upon their own
experiences, or those of others, and
explore writing through memory,
observation and the imagination.

The creative writing course is structured
around group reading and discussion,
allowing for continuous feedback
and enabling participants to develop
their own critical responses.

We develop ways to promote the work
produced by the group through public
readings and booklets.

The writing group has developed links
with external organisations such as the
Face Front Theatre Company who
created a play ‘Beyond the Curtain’,
based on stories written by the group.
